Light microscopy identification notes

Valve View: Circular shape with 10-22 alternating raised and lowered segments. Each raised segment has a hyaline line from the centre to the margin and ends with a marginal labiate process. Two layers to the valves - 1 has large hexagonal areolae, the other smaller and finer areolae. Central area is circular or stellate (star-shaped) and non-areolated.

Girdle View: A wavy outline. The height (pervalvar axis) of the cell smaller than the diameter.
