Light microscopy identification notes
Valve view: The valve is longer than wide and has a sigmoid median line. The ends of the valves are wedge-shaped
Girdle view: Located on either side of the girdle band are thick costae. In between each costae are 2 rows of striae, comprised of minute punctae. The longitudinal lines on the girdle become oblique towards the poles, creating a criss-cross pattern.
